School Admin BuildingPonca City, OKThis project is an adaptive rehabilitation of a historic building in the heart of the Downtown Commercial District. The building now houses school administrative offices, the Board of Education meeting room, and educational meeting and seminar rooms for continuing professional development of school staff members. The new building has been a successful recruitment tool for attracting new educators to Ponca City. The work included a total remodel of the interior and a partial rehabilitation of the exterior.

The exterior included new roofing, patching of masonry where mechanical items were removed, replacement of all exterior windows (windows removed were not original), exterior architectural lighting, the addition of handicap accessible ramps and sidewalks and the restoration of sod and landscaping. The School Administration Building was originally named Roosevelt School and was designed by architect, Smith and Senter in 1930 as an addition to an existing school building. This addition faced Grand Avenue and became the new front door of the Ponca City Schools. When the Administration was moved to west Grand Avenue in 1994, the entire building then became educational space for East Junior High. After East Junior High became an 8th grade only center, in the early part of the new millennium, the building sat empty for many years. After years of neglect the building was saved from demolition by the current administration who decided to invest in the building and make it the new home for School Administration. Not only did this save an historic building, it placed the administration back in its rightful location on East Grand Avenue.
